Happy Birthday to Us!
We are turning 8 this month! And it feels like we have a lot going on to celebrate.
As the price of food and cost of living inceases we realise it is even more important to help everyone be clever about their eating and eat better by increasing their knowledge and skills around having a healthy and sustainable diet.
We know eating a healthy diet involves many skills and working with your dieitian can help your whole household get the nutrition they need and save you money over the long term.
For all clients that come to our clinics and workshops we offer a packet of seeds from our garden to yours to help you to get inspired, start or add to your food garden. We hope to offer more opportunities to share food productive plants in the future such as at our garden tours and workshops and sharing our foood garden experience on social media.
So for our birthday these school holidays come along to our Start Your Garden Workshop where there will be an abundance of herb and flower cuttings, seeds and also some native raspberry plants to recieve. Really great value!
Let us know how your food garden is growing and share any tips you have in our Facebook group Bright Bods!

Recipe of the Month
Beef and Lentil Stew
Why not try this fibre-rich recipe at home?
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 400g beef chuck steak, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 2 cups mushrooms
- 2 cans of lentils
- 1 can chopped tomatoes with puree
- 3 cups beef stock
- 3 tsp fresh or 1 tsp dried oregano
- 3 fresh or 1 tsp dried bay leaf
- 3 tsp fresh or 1 tsp dried basil
Method
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Saute the onions for 3-4 minutes, then add the beef and garlic.
- Brown the meat, stirring regularly, for 5-10 minutes. All sides of the beef pieces should be browned.
- Add the carrots, celery, mushrooms, lentils, tomatoes, beef stock, and herbs if using dried. Fresh herbs should be mixed through at the end.
- Bring to a boil, cover, then reduce heat and simmer for 60 minutes until beef is tender.
- Mix through fresh herbs if using and serve.
Alternately, in step 3, you can place ingredients into a slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
