Motivators
Hello Bright Bod!
Do you feel the cooler weather makes it harder to opt for those healthy foods even though you know it is good for you?
Sometimes doing something for yourself can not be as motivating as doing it for others. Many people choose healthy foods to ensure the people around them eat healthy: the kids, parents, housemates, work colleagues.
But even more so these days people are making food choices based on their eco-fiendly conscious. Opting, for wholesome nutritious foods over processed foods (like fruit or nuts as a snack instead of a sweet biscuit) considering the energy and resources that when into the growing of all the ingredients, processing, packaging and waste products and the effect on our air, water/sea and the animals that live in it.
So the next time you want to choose those comfort foods, think of the people around you and how your food choices can influence them as well as the journey of your food and who may have put their love and energy into it.
We would love to hear you share your experience on why you choose your food our Bright Bods Facebook group and stay connected!

Recipe of the Month
Beef Stroganoff
Beef Stroganoff was a dish my mum used to cook when I was growing up. With the cooler weather, and my home grown mushroom buckets producing, I get inspired to make this recipe at least once a year. For a vegetarian option you can swap the beef for black beans and coat the mushrooms in flour instead.
Serves 6
Ingredients
- 500g Sirloin steak
- 1/3 cup flour of chioce
- 1 Tb paprika
- 2 TB extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 large onion- thinly sliced
- 1 large carrot- thinly sliced
- 1 large capsicum- thinly sliced
- 2 cups mushroom- thinly sliced
- 1 large tomato- finely sliced or blended
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
- 4 sprigs of parsley
- Saltr and pepper to taste
- Rice of choice such as brown rice or Basmati or pasta
Method
- Place a large pan on medium heat.
- Cut up the beef into thin strips. Place the beef into a container with the flour and paprika and give a shake to coat the meat.
- Chop up the rest of the ingredients.
- Add the garlic and onion to the pan and saute until fragrant. Remove from the pan.
- Add more oil and saute the meat.
- When the meat is slightly browned, add all the vegetables and water to the pan. Stir, put the lid on, and put the heat on low.
- Cook for 30 minutes or until the carrots are soft.
- Make the rice or pasta as per the packet instructions
- Take the pan off the heat. Stir in the yoghurt, being careful not to allow it to curdle if the heat is too hot.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve on top of your rice or pasta and garnish with parsley.
